FEDERAL TORT CLAIMS ACT
Special rules and laws mean that if you want to sue the federal government for causing harm to you through an accident then you need to do it through the Federal Tort Claims Act (“FTCA”). In other words, you can’t just sue the federal government like you could another driver who was just a citizen. Instead, you have to follow special rules and procedures. These cases have special deadlines and requirements, and if you don’t follow the rules exactly you could miss out on recovery.
People don’t usually know about these special rules, but people have accidents with the federal government all the time. For example, if a U.S. postal service box truck hits you on the road, then you would have to use the FTCA to recover. Other examples include crashes, accidents, or other mishaps with the U.S. Coast Guard or any other federal government branch.
We have experience in handling these cases. We know this process and are standing by to help you with your case.
